Something Different

I decided to do something different. Yesterday we woke up to a beautiful blanket of snow...our first of the year. It was still dark out, so at six in the morning I turned on the outside Christmas lights so people could see them on their way to work rather than on their way home. I did the same this morning. I wonder if it will make a difference in someone's day. It already has for me.

Over the years, Pete and I have taken turns what color lights to put outside the house for Christmas. One year I had all white, then he had all blue, last year it was supposed to be all purple but it looked all pink. This year the kids get to pick and the winner is...."all the colors!"

Let's see, not much new. Pete worked all day on installing a new shower fan/heater/light in his bathroom and of course, it has not gone well. He is still working on it. Since we found some mold on the carpet in his office, we have banned the kids from going in there to use the computer until we are sure it is gone so they are taking turns using the computer in the family room...funny. Reminds me of the days when we only had one tv in our house when I was a kid.

I cleaned the laundry room...the family helped by sorting the clean clothes while I cleaned the room. After I got the floor cleaned I knocked over the detergent and a bunch spilled onto the clean floor. We decided since we never use the shoe rack we will put it in the garage and use only the basket for the shoes since we all use it anyway. These minor things are major family decisions.

Tomorrow we will get grocery shopping done, go to church and listen to our new pastor. Bree is an acolyte and is excited about having a female pastor who will be her pastor when she is confirmed. Then we will come home to watch the game.

We had planned to go to Fleet Farm today to purchase a leaf catcher for behind the lawn mower but it got too late. The way the season is going, we will have snow on the ground sooner rather than later. In fact, we woke up and it was snowing but it melted when it hit the ground.

Usually it does not bother me that I do not drive but it has been really bugging me lately. I could have run some errands today while Pete worked on the fan. The kids need new zippers for their coats, we need groceries, I want to get our bedroom done, blah, blah, blah....alright, I am done complaining! I watched the news and they talked about homeless kids going to school. In Green Bay, there are 800 homeless students! I am thinking for Bree's church group we could do something for them when it is our turn to host an activity (January). Bree wants to do something fun like sledding/pizza but I want to do something that will help others so maybe we can compromise and combine the two.

A chance

Well, my guy did not win but I am willing to give the winner a chance. I am not going to berate him before he starts. I am tired of the thinking that "It's over before it starts" attitude because if you think it, then it doesn't stand a chance. I am willing to give this person a chance. I am willing to believe, I am willing to hope and when it's all over, then I will give my opinion. Because if it were me in that role, I would want that chance.

Mom and I went to the Neil Diamond concert and it was a good concert. I got home in time to watch Obama's speech.

It is almost here

Tomorrow is a big day. I have been waiting a long time for this day. I am sure you are thinking it is the election but since I think my candidate is going to lose, that is not it. It is the day I get to see Neil Diamond in concert with my mom at the Resch Center in Green Bay!

It is a long story...I was supposed to call and get tickets but forgot and the tickets sold out in an hour. Then the concert was rescheduled so mom called and said some people returned their tickets so I went on line and got some....whew! I have no idea what to wear...what would Neil like? Bluejeans, of course! (He sings 'Forever in Bluejeans').

I will vote after I drop my son off at school. It just so happens the voting place is his school. I have always loved the idea of being able to vote and have ever since I was old enough to do it. Then I'll be singing with Neil...
