Lori's Minute

We made it!

Everyone was here for the fireworks show and it went very well although my brother-in-law did get hit in the face near his cheek. A couple inches higher and he probably would have lost an eye!

But it was nice to sit with my kids and watch the show. Fireworks have sure come a long way since I was a kid when all we had were sparklers and snakes. (Maybe the fireworks were around then but my family did not buy them....hmmmm...I wonder why?)

Anyway, I just wanted to update everyone and say we are all ok....whew!

I am glad the injury was no worse and that everything else went okay! It rained here but I still heard all the booming from the fireworks on base.

We went to some fireworks once when our kids were young- one of our sons was about two and when those things started going off he grabbed his dad's leg and yelled, "We gotta get outta here! They're shooting at us!" I got here by way of Dr. John's marathon.

Glad to hear that fireworks went well, I did not get any this year, it has been so dry here and I was afraid that I would send the neighborhood up in flames so we stuck to sparklers.

I am here on behalf of Dr. Johns marathon today

Hey,Lori .... I found your blog by way of Dr. John. I enjoyed my visit. Was nice to read your entries and to get to know you through your writings. By the way, I can relate to your comment about 'things going wrong with fireworks.' I seem to be a magnet for the stray firecracker, bottle rocket, or fountain that falls over. LOL Tina

Lori, thank you for visiting my blog. I just read your bio and I want to say -- I am a "Princess Bride" fan, too!

For the 4th I ran a sump pump and cleaned out a friend's pool -- but she rewarded me with a great bbq meal.

Wow, Lori, reading your last two posts, back-to-back, was an ironic and kinda scary experience.

I stay away from fireworks (except for the big, public displays). Now, I know why!

Y'know, it's all good fun until someone (almost!) loses an eye!

Hey that was a good fireworks display and aside from pat's little mishap it went well. What is life without a little danger?
