Lori's Minute

Monday, Monday, Monday

I cannot believe the weekend is over and it is already Monday. First I have to say how awful I feel for my sister-in-law, Pennie. This gitl has one of the toughest jobs I can think of in dealing with foster kids, their parents and foster parents. I just cannot imagine having to deal with kids who are struggling when their parents are not responsible people.

Last year she hurt her foot and was hobbling around for a long time and now she had surgery to clear up a carpal tunnel hand and it backfired so she cannot use her hand at all. Now she is trying to sell her house and the real estate lady told her to do some things even though she knows Pennie only has one arm/hand to use. WHAT????? I really wonder if the real estate lady is just saying things so if the house does not sell that she can say, "Well, you did not take my suggestions so it did not sell.' BALONEY! The house is in better shape than when she bought it and it looks a lot nicer, too! I think the real estate lady is trying to cover her behind. So, Pennie tried to repaint a room and fell and hurt her arm again! I know Pennie is not blogging lately so I do not know if sending her comments would help but if you could all say a little prayer it would help. (If you want to get to ger blog, go to Betty's blog and click on Pennie's link).

Well, our vacation fund went up a dollar because Breanna lost a tooth and she put the dollar the tooth fairy left in the canister. I thought that was nice of her to do that for the family.

Yesterday we went to my mother's for brunch because my aunt, uncle and two cousins were in town from the west side of the state. They are the type to sit around the table, drink coffee and crack jokes all day while mom cooks. I think mom enjoyed having her family and hearing laughter in her house again.

This morning I had a college student stop in and try to sell us educational books and cds for the kids for $420. She said she needed a yes or no answer today and I was not going to spend that kind of money without checking with hubby so I said no. I liked the set but we tend to buy these things and not use them very often so I passed. Besides, anyone who needs an answer today is too pushy!

My son is taking a bath with a squirt gun so I better go check and make sure he has not soaked the floor. Have a good one!

Lori,

The Prince would get more of himself washed if he took a bath with the bathtub. Squirt guns really don't get the job done.

Your daughter has a generous heart! Of course, I have noticed that tends to be a Linna characteristic.

I love the vacation fund bucket! I can't believe what you said about Pennie, I feel bad for her that she can't use her hand now.

My mom used to have foster kids. She would always havve two girl, sisters, and there was ALWAYS one sister who was lousy, sneaky, and just horrendous, while the other was so sweet. Even worse, the bad sister was always trying to pull one over on the other, I hated that they had to be related.

I liked your post today, very interesting. Have a good week.

Is Pennie a social worker? Wow, that must be rough!I will say a prayer for her.

How sweet of Breanna to put her dollar in!

Needing a answer so soon on such a big purchase is a lot to expect of anyone. I get a lot of kids selling stuff since I am in navy housing. I used to have a NO SOLICITING sign up but it did no good. Even the adults still knock!

Pennie is certainly having a rough go of it lately. please hug her from us next chance you get. and tell her that we always think of her.

it's lovely to get together with family. those are precious moments and i'm glad you had a good time.

Breanna did a very nice thing.
pass on the congrats.

i'm with you in people that pressure purchases...that's bad sellsmanship..no one is going to get anywhere being pushy...and that was a great amount of money. how can it be decided withoutht the hubby...good that you didn't and don't let anyone push you around.

hope you have a happy monday sleep.

Thank you for the post.
That was thoughtful of my granddaughter.
I had one of those people selling books come to the door as I was getting ready for the first rummage sale told her I didn't have time. I don't know the cost because we didn't get that far.

I think your daughter is grand. The squirt gun kid isn't bad either. When I started college I had a chance to do the door to door book selling thing but my dad wouldn't let me. He said the company gets most of the money and you get all the agony.

Lori, I am thinking what you are thinking, the real estate lady shouldn't have done that. She might just be giving herself an out, like you say. What is a little bit of paint anyway, most people come in and then repaint the entire house, painting a house isn't going to make it sell, not really.

What happened with her surgery? I am supposed to go in for carpel tunnel surgery, the xrays are sitting right here, and I have the number to make the appointment, but something stops me. And I think you have hit on the reason, what if they botch the job. I could end up worse. I don't really trust doctors.

Monday? Wednesday, Wednesday, Wednesday.

I hope you are not still cleaning up from the squirt gun bath! Perhaps you are buried in dishes? Stop cooking and come out and play!

That is a shame about your sister in law. I read that on Bettys page. As for your vacation fund, it is growing!!! That is good of Bree to put her money in there. I hope you are doing well with the no eating out thing
