Trip to the Dentist

Today the princess and I went to the dentist for a cleaning (no cavities!) while the king and the prince went to a store. I was not looking forward to this dentist visit because I year ago when I went, the lady cleaning my teeth was so stressed out about her daughter's wedding, it felt like she was really taking it out on my teeth. She had to keep using the suction hose because of my gums bleeding so much and when she flossed, youch! It took forever because she kept talking about what she had to do to get ready because it was going to be in her backyard and so on. So, I did not go back for a year.

When I made the appointment I requested another hygientist but since my daughter was having her teeth cleaned at the same time the receptionist told me she would get the hygientist I was trying to avoid. So, not wanting my daughter to suffer at the hands of a mad woman I decided to try her again.

She did better this time. Now her daughter and son-in-law are living with her and her husband and the son-in-law made "some bad choices" (in prison for a few months for drunk driving, doesn't want a be a dad to his four month old baby but is a 'good kid who came from a dysfunctional family'. ) More than I needed to know.

Turns out my daughter usually has my hygientist when she goes with her dad to have her teeth cleaned and she likes her!

Then we took the prince for his immunizations shots. He had to have three! He cried for a bit and was a little sore later on and took a nap on my lap for awhile so that part was nice.

Have a good weekend!

Well I am glad she did not take things out on you again! LOL! I actually went to the dentist today too. And no cavties for me either! Just a referral to a root canal specialist for the botched one I had years ago. And another for a oral surgeon for my impacted wisdom tooth. Yeah, I would have taken a cavity or two instead.

Different strokes for different folks, I go to a pair of dentists, one talks, one never says a word. I feel comfortable with a person who talks, my husband just wants them to do their job and shut up. But regardless if they talk or not, if they hurt my gums, I ain't going back.......tooth cleaning should be relatively painless....if they are grabbing your gums with their tools, they are not very good hygenists. There are all different types of skills in every profession, our dentist put a shot of novacaine right THROUGH my husbands gum. (The dentist who talks to much)maybe that is why he doesn't like him anymore. hmmmmmmmmm

The prince did better than the king when it comes to shots. The king also did not like the dentist. i like the dentist I go to but I will have to change if we move.

I go to the dentist -- kicking and screaming all the way. The first one I went to (I was 10) drilled when my tooth wasn't numb. I can't get past the fear it will happen again.

Dont even get me started on dentists. I am being sued by that one that screwed up my mouth. grr. I would tell everone to go to the cleanings its better then the alternative. Trust me. I two now have a pair of dentist a root speacilist who is repairing the bad work and my general dentist who is repairing the crowns. I do not like dentists. I once spent 6 hours on a dentist chair had like 6 root canels done needless to say I did not go to work the next day.

glad to hear no cavties.

I've have gum surgery, on all for sections and it wasn't pretty. The last section he unfortuntly cut my gums in my front teeth so now I have a gap inbetween my two front teeth at the top! I can't smile really wide for fear of expsong it.

I was supposed to go back for cleaning--no way. Not unless he can fix that gap, it looks horrible! And food gets in there. I had very pretty teeth, just crappy gums, now my teeth are all messed up, right in the front, too! Ugh.

Sorry you had a bad experience, going to the dentist sucks.

Lori -- all the prevaricaters have weighed in. Their 'truth deficient' tales are posted on my blog. Voting starts Monday morning. Since you are a contender you'll want to come on by and vote for yourself as, "The Greatest Living Liar."
