And now it is time for...
And now it is time for another conversation I had with the five year old. I asked him what he wanted to be when he grows up. He said, " A babysitter."
Ok.....
Then he said when his sister (who is 11) grows up, she will be a baby.
Now I see where this is going...I think he is tired of having an older sister always bossing him around.
Today we tried to have a carnival. We set up both pools, had an obstacle course and I was going to make slushies, cotton candy and popcorn. Well, the ice machine did not work, there was no cotton candy and the kids wanted to come in after only a half hour of playing. It took more time to set up and take down than it did to play in it!
But that is ok, it is called life....when does school start??????

your son sounds so cute..
it always takes longer to set up than the actually doing..as i kid, i always loved setting up for whatever was the day's theme much more than the actual playing..
have a good night.
Here, school starts for regular teachers today. I am typing with one eye on the clock. Because I am not a "regular" teacher, but a mentor teacher (in the area of writing) I went back on Modnay. Our kids come in August 30th -- for three days. Just when we get them settled down they go out for a long weekend. Further proof that this school district hates their teachers!
Setting up takes more time than the play, that is the truth. When I was teaching this was true, more so the younger the child.
The sad thing is I have the cotton candy. I have it boxed but i don't know if it is down there yet.
School starts too sonn for the kids, not soon enough for the parents and much too sonn for the teachers.
It seems whenever we get excited about sometghing and and prepare well it is short lived!
Ah yes, kids...When I was growing up a local DJ played the song "Happy Days Are Here Again" for the parents when school started and at the end of school for the kids.
Never fails, the longer something takes to make or set up the faster someone else will end it.
lol....this was cute Lori. Some schools have already started...maybe you could enroll them in one of those...lol
I like your son's answer - so cute and 'logical' from his perspective.
In here (HK), school will start in early Sept. I totally agree with Dr John that the school starts not soon enough for the parents.
I totally agree with Dr. John that school starts way too soon for the teachers! I sliced my finger open yesterday moving stuff and getting ready. Classroom still has a long way to go before it is "up." I sure am using up the hot glue. Cinderblock walls are very difficult to staple things to. Further proof that the school district here hates its teachers!
What the summer is over already? How can this be it just started. :) I sure like the summer even with all the heat and the rain I still like it.
I have seen my kids spend hours putting a lego thing together then when there done bang. Someone blews it up(not litterly I do not in a normal course of a week let my kids play with explosives that left for specail occations. LOL ) in there imagination and it does not bother them too break something they spent so long building. If I spent all that time on something and something or someone broke it I would have a fit. Course time is very different for them then it is for us adults.
