Books

Today I decided to write about me and books (or is it books and I)? Feel free to copy and answer yourself.

Favorite book as a kid?Tie between 'Are You My Mother?' and "Go Dogs G0!' Both are by P.D. James.

Favorite book I liked to look at while my mom read it to me.Cinderella

Favorite book I read numerous times in grade school.
'Tino' The thing I remember the most was the boy had an uncle who always said, "Play now, worry later!"

First 'serious' book I read over and over.'The Outsiders' by S. E. Hinton. Everyone else in junior high was reading 'Forever' but not me.

Favorite subject.
Biographies

Favorite one?
Colin Powell's and Deanna Favre.

Books I tried to read but did not get past the first page.'Les Miserables'
'Wicked'
Any Harry Potter book.

Funniest book I ever read.
Howard Stern's 'Private Parts' and I am not a fan of his radio show.

Books I cannot read ever.
Anything to do with child abuse.

Book that scared the heck out of me.
'Helter Skelter' because it was true.

Book I forced myself to read because a friend recommended it and I did not like it.
I can't remember the title but it was by Steven King. I think it was called 'It' but I am not sure.

First and only book I have in large print.
The Bible

Did you ever read the Bible and how far did you get?
I read as far as Psalms when I was a teenager.

Favorite set of books.
James Herriot set. 'All Things Bright and Beautiful' etc.

How many cookbooks do you have?
Three or four.

HOw many do you use?
One, Betty Crocker.

DO you own any self help books?
Yep and they haven't helped.

Do you go to the library?
No but I do have a card.

Any book you loved but cannot find anywhere?"Solomon Shag' - a kids book. I'm not sure of the title, don't know the author but part of it is:
Solomon Shag was a big yellow hound
who stood as high as you when he jumped off the ground.

He could dance on his hind legs and beg for a bone,
but all that he asked was a home of his own.

From house to house, door to door,
he looked for a master to love evermore.

But nobody wanted a big yellow dog
who slept like a bumpity, lumpity log.

My day

The husband and daughter are at the indoor arena football game, the last one of the season. He wore his brand new white, team shirt....the question is, will he spill any food on it? Odds say yes but there is always a first time for everything.

Today we got the Star Wars posters we ordered in the mail. I got a good deal (in my opinion) I got the original movie posters from each of the six movies (by original I mean copies of the original ones than came out when the movies came out). Looking at the one for A New Hope, the first one to come outI believe in 1977, brought back a lot of memories. The artwork of Luke and Leia do not even look like the people in the movie. But they are all great posters.

My orginal plan was to frame four and put them in my son's room. We just repainted his room...gone are the Snoopy and Woodstocks from his baby years. Now he is seven and wants Star Wars (takes after his mother). I went online and saw that posters were roughly twenty dollars each but I got all six for thirty! The frames are more expensive. Being a so called artist, I am not surprised.

I got four frames thinking four will work for his room, six will be too much. My daughter wants the other two for her room. Turns out the boy wants all six (of course) so I will buy two more frames. If it is two busy, we will put two in my daughter's room and they can swap posters whenever they want.

I really want the posters for my room....I haven't finished painting our room yet and there is room for all six posters...hee hee....we still have not found a headboard so maybe I will paint something on the wall behind the bed such as a giant wookie!

I need to get out of this house....

Insomnia

Every once in awhile, I have insomnia. I can remember having it when I was around ten and I did not sleep for about two weeks. It seems like whenever I have it, there is no rhyme or reason to it. Now, I am going through it again. This time it started last weekend when I was up waiting for my husband and daughter to come home from a festival. They had been gone for four days and nights so I did not sleep well when they were gone. My readers now I love to take naps but since they were gone, it was just me and my seven year old son so I did not dare nap during those days.

I was really looking forward to sleeping well once they got home but they ended up not coming home until three a.m. I had tried to call him on his cell but after four days, it was not charged. I rarely call him but when I do, it seems like I cannot get ahold of him. I could have tried his sister but thought if she thought they should have been home, I would have her worried as well. I was frantic...I was so close to calling the highway patrol to see if there were any accidents.

Finally at 2:20 I got a hold of him and they were on their way. Relieved, I tried to go to sleep. I could not and did not until almost four. Now here it is five days later and I have not been asleep before two a.m. My son is also not sleeping. The other thing is I am not accomplishing a thing during the day because I am too tired. Am I pathetic or what? This better pass soon or I will become a permanent lump on the couch.

On the Fouth of July we ran a few errands before heading down to the in-laws. We passed through a couple neighborhoods and I noticed only two houses had the American flag. We have had ours out since 9/11 and even had it replaced twice since then. I know people can do what they want but I thought it was an interesting observation.

In other news.....we had a nice time at the in-laws but I realized we need to train our dog to not bark when he is unhappy. With the kids home this summer, we will work on it! The base coat of painting is done in the master bedroom. I will decided whether to faux paint once we purchase a bed. Last week I went out and hacked down three lilac bushes and another bush and hauled all the branches to the curb. I also cut all the dead branches from under three other bushes. Now my arms are covered with branch pokes. I also trimmed nine other bushes using a a hedge clippers. It was a good job done. Next up is the back yard but we have to get a tree trimmer gadget thing before I can cut any branches back there. The yard work is slowly getting done. Pete painted one of our garage doors which has been peeling for years and now it looks nice.

Another busy week ahead with a birthday, appointments and Lifest...a christian music weekend.

I was doing well until the Fourth where I ate a gazillion three musketeers bars. I will start eating better again this week after my daughter's birthday. She is having a sleepover this week. In fact, I need to go make her cake now. Have a good one people!
