What happens when I am not home

Recently I started walking outside to get my 10,000 steps a day in. I usually leave before everyone is up and am back around the time my daughter leaves for school.

Yesterday I walked in the house and there is no dog to greet me at the door. Hmmmmm....I walk into the family room and see my son on the couch, one hand behind his head and watching cartoons. In the other hand I see a candy bar wrapper.

"You are NOT eating a candy bar for breakfast, are you?" I ask as he jumps about three feet. He stares at me with his mouth closed.

"This is what you can have...a banana, cereal, or a bagel. Got it?"

He nods.

"Where is the dog?"

He shrugs. I go upstairs and find the dog on the bed while my husband is still asleep. I go back downstairs.

"Mom?" my son asks.

"Yeah"

"Can I have a cookie?"

errrrghhhhhhhhh....
